My grandpa died this weekend. We grandchildren had made a foolish promise that not a drop of slivovitz would be left in the house. (Think Eastern European hooch, basically.) I, at least, am massively hung over. My brother found another bottle. My grandpa was the last Slovak-speaker in my family. As I listened to the Slovak benediction at the end of the funeral, I wondered if I will ever hear that again. I hate the fact that I've spent a half hour searching, and I don't know how to find a video or even the words used because I don't recognize Slovak at all. I am tired, hung over and sad.
